25th-Sep-2008 06:42 pm - HELL FUCKING YES
Black Lady

"In our matching wool caps(knitted by your restless fingers) pulled down low over our pale-girl foreheads." (Oates, 74)

The teacher was using this to talk about converting quotes, but all I was thinking was  "IZ DAT SUM YURI?"

"We were enchanted with the Strand and with each other in the Strand. Over seen by surly young clerks who were poets like us or playwrights/actors/artists. In the agony of unspoken young love, I watched you." (Oates, 74)

THAN I WAS THINKING, "I GOTTA BE RIGHT BECAUSE IT MENTIONED "UNSPOKEN YOUNG LOVE."

I asked the teacher what the book's title was and he brings up that they are lesbians. I love being right. I'm going buy it just because of that. Well that and because I love Oates' prose. Now if only I had some money.
