So, I watched The Dark Knight about two days ago; it got me in the mood for other Batman stuff. I don't own any Batman comics. All of the stuff I've read, I have borrowed from other people. I'm a happy mooch.

When I saw Chicken Little for the first time (It wasn't as good as I was led to believe), I immediately thought that Buck's relationship with Chicken Little is similar to Baba's relationship with Amir. It made the movie a lot more fun. Both Buck and Baba were bad parents at first, both of them lost their wives and their sons disappointed them until they proved something. Ah, parallels, you make my days fun.

When I read an entry on fandomsecrets, I wondered if Inspector Lunge was a better detective then L. I want to say Lunge, but I am being bias, even if he was annoying. After remembering events in both mangas, L seems like the better detective. I'm still unsure, though. TO THE INTERNET!

I just got my hands on Dragon Head scalations. I like the series thus far.

I'm rooting for Iwada as I read it. He filled the leadership quality that was in Teru as I progress through volume 5. Iwada did not strike as an awesome character until I read that volume. Nimura is a jerk, but that might change later on, so I can't hate him. Ako, man, Ako. She's strong. Teru is all right; I don't hate him, but I don't admire him as much as do Ako or Iwada.

Dragon Head fascinated me. It reminded me of Lord of the Flies with Nobou as Jack.

After I finish with the series, I'm going to read Phoenix.

On my booklist is The Time Traveler's Wife because it's about goddamn time.

Ok. Ok. Am I missing something?

Most of my F-list people are in love/like with Death Note. Did I miss something when I was reading it?

I picked up Death Note because I was curious about what two girls in my art class were going on about. I kept on reading after the Light and L interaction was introduced, but that was the only thing that I truly liked about the series.  I stopped at volume 7, but skimmed through volumes 8-12.  Death Note was too wordy; it explained things in the manner the Naruto manga did.

L creeped me out, for serious. I don't understand how fandom finds him cute.

So am I missing something totally awesome?

For a three semesters failure, getting an 'A' in my English class is a huge deal. I'm giddy, but the impending doom of my math grade looms over my achievement. I will know tomorrow if I passed my math class.

Last time I check, 400-something/800 points achieved, but I have a 76.6% out of 100%; I'm a little confused. Really. (My friend has 600-something/900 points, but she has a 89%)

Shesh, I want to read manga now. Books were the hot item of yesterday (but I still want to read shit)

Manga I want to read/buy with a passion:

Parasyte. I picked this up last year. Currently own two volumes. Iwaaki's style fumbles a bit, but it's way better then most stuff nowadays(that are in bookstores).

Dragon Head. Also picked it up last year; read it up to volume five and have not found the rest. It was funky in a good way.

Pluto. Urasawa delivered Monster, so I assumed Pluto must be a good read.

Blood Baptism. Read the first chapter. Interesting.

Koi Kaze. Cute style that sort of reminds me of Saikano.

Other stuff: Arthur de Pins' stuff translated. It's porn made cute.

I want Kazuo Umezu's stuff and Shintaro Kago's stuff because they're both insane. Junji Ito looks tame in comparison now.

Oh, man. My English class is love. I've read some pretty interesting shit in our textbook(The New Millennium Reader 4th edition), including Joyce Carol Oates' Were Are You Going, Where Have You Been?

It's made of awesome. Her prose is so pretty, yet very frightening. The way a certain character acted/talked in Where Are You Going[...] is extremely creepy, like knock-me-out-with-a-stone creepy. It's the prose, man, it's the prose. I'm a sucker for prose.

I'm going to read more of her stuff once I hit the bookstore. :D

She drew her shoulders up and sucked in her breath with the pure pleasure of being alive, and just at that moment she happened to glance at a face just a few feet from hers. It was a boy with shaggy black hair, in a convertible jalopy painted gold. He stared at her and then his lips widened into a grin. Connie slit her eyes at him and turned away, but she couldn't help glancing back and there he was, still watching her. He wagged a finger and laughed and said, "Gonna get you, baby," and Connie turned away again without Eddie noticing anything.

Oh, you poor, stupid girl.

Today, my soda damaged my textbook, so I guess I'm keeping it. It's a good thing, I guess, since I liked the stories. Fate? lololol

Ok, since I'm on the subject of books: The Kite Runner.

I finished this book about a month ago. Everybody in school was reading it and my teacher made it mandatory. (I was going to read it eventually anyway.)

For a debut novel, Hosseini did well. I did not like the fact that he wrote in first person because I'm not the one experiencing this; I'm not Amir, despite the fact that I'm looking through his eyes.

The imagery was sufficient without it being too overbearing. It's simple and to the point; however, his prose was not I enjoyed the most and neither was the Afghanistan situation/background; it was the characters.

There were not that many, but they were fleshed out nicely. I liked some of them, like Rahim Khan and I disliked some of them, like Assef, yet there were some characters that I disliked and liked vehemently.

Amir. Hassan. Baba.

Amir was such a coward. I get it. He was a boy; a scared little boy starved for his father's attention. How could he have done nothing about Hassan's rape? Even if he did run away, he could have done something. He wanted to tell, but he was too scared about losing Baba. He is not the best of friends either. Poor Hassan. He just leaves Hassan whenever it's convenient, despite his thinking of Hassan as a brother.

He redeemed himself through Hassan's weary son. He's a little redeemed in my eyes after his frantic rescue. He grew mentally stronger too. He made Baba proud.

Hassan was so nice, so understanding and loyal, but he lacked a backbone. My god, I wanted to knock some sense into that boy. He allowed everything to happen to him; he allowed Amir to verbally abuse him; and he allowed his fate to happen. If he had stood up for himself, they would have never left the house, but his loyalty to Amir was so great. It was his downfall, poor boy.

Baba, great man. Great man in everything, but family. He expected a lot from Amir because Amir is the socially legitimate half. He pushed Amir to the point where his son had to take out on Hassan and to the point where Amir did not stand up to Hassan. It was not fair that Baba kept Hassan being his son from Sanaubar a secret. He robbed his family of the truth; hell, he robbed everybody of something and he said that it was the worst thing that you could do a person. Baba seemed like the type of man who doesn’t care about society’s rules, so I found it a little strange that he kept quiet.

I was unsatisfied that Amir and Hassan never had a confrontation as adults. I felt robbed of that. I wanted closure between those two; it felt like the book was going in that direction, but it never came. Hassan is killed and Amir is left with his son. I wanted them to make up; I wanted them to duke it out; I wanted them to do something, be it good or bad. Hell.

The Kite Runner. It was a ride. It was a slow ride at first, but man, did it pick up. Good book, read it six times, can’t seem to read the parts when they were younger.

I’m such a whiner.
